Island peak climbing is also known as Imja Tse which is located on top of Chukung Glacier between Ama Dablam and Lhotse Mountains. Overview

Island Peak Climbing is also known as Imja Tse which is located on top of Chukung Glacier between Ama Dablam and Lhotse Mountains. Island Peak Climbing  starts by flying 35 min from Kathmandu to Lukla then trek to Namchebazar, head Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche to Everest base camp and after proper acclimatization you go for peak climbing of Island peak. Then you trace back to Namche and fly back to Kathmandu. This trek provides great natural vistas, cultural highlights, exploration of rural area, wildlife and vegetation and many more. This trek is strenuous so one has to be in excellent physical condition. The best time to join this Island peak climbing  is from September to December and March to May. Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu Arrival
You will be warmly greeted by Well Nepal at your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu and escorted to hotel, evening brief explain about Peak climbing by our officer. Evening free overnight at hotel.

Day 2:  Kathmandu Sight Seeing 
Today you are going to  explore the several cultural and natural sightseeing in this ancient city Pashupatinath, Boudhanah Stupa, Swayambunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square. After exploring this places you will do preparation for trek. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 3 Kathmandu to Lukla & Trek to Phakding
Afte breakfast you will head toward Tribhuwan airport to fly for lukla. It is about 40 min. flight above great green and white mountains. After you reach at lukla airport our other team member will meet you there and help in your packing and other arrangement and then you will head through beautiful village of Lukla And trek till you reach at Phakding. Stay overnight at Phadking.

Day 4 Phakding to Namchebazar
After breakfast you will walking through a beautiful pine forest, along the Dudh Koshi River, you will see wonderful prospect of the Mt. Thamserku (6618 m), you will arrive at the check post and entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. Then we pass through the last village of Jorsale and following the trail through the forests and bridges until we reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. After a final steep climb of about two hours you get first sight of Mt. Everest peering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. From there you still need to hike about 1.5 hours to reach Namche Bazaar, a gateway to Mt. Everest and main trading centre of this region. Stay overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 5 Acclimatization
Today is acclimatization day especially programmed taking care of your health. This day is a rest day and you can explore Sagarmatha National Park or Namchebazar and Khumjung Valley. It offers you internet, cafes, shops, restaurant, bakery and other where you can hang out and feel better for next day hike.  Stay overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 6 Trek to Tengboche (3,870m)
After breakfast in Namche, you start your trek towards Tengboche enjoying superb view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and close up view of Thamserku. Enjoying wild lives like pheasant, musk deer, or a herd of Himalayan Thar, through alpine forests, Dudh Koshi River, you reach Phunki Thenga where you’ll have lunch relaxed lunch then steep up through the pine forests while before we reach Tengboche. Tengboche is a great place for close up views of Ama-Dablam, Nuptse, and Everest and a biggest Buddhist Monastery in Khumbu region which you will visit too. Stay overnight at Tengboche. 

Day 7 Tengboche to Dingboche (4360 M)
After breakfast you gear up for your day hike to Dingboche. you  pass through several Chortens and Mani walls and small villages. On the way you can see a fantastic close-up view of Mt Ama Dablam. From here onwards, the walk is fairly moderate as you enter the Imja Valley to Lobuche River. you descend into the river and begin the steep climb of the day up to Dingboche. On arrival at Dingboche, You will see beautiful array of fields enclosed by stone walls to protect barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. Stay overnight stay at Dingboche .

Day 8 Dingboche to Duglha (4360 M)
After breakfast you start the day with a climb to through the Khumbu Khola valley to Phulung Karpo Above which is Chola Lake. As we move on, the majestic view of Mt. Pumori (7138 m/ 23418 ft) comes into view. After crossing a small wooden bridge, we ascend to Duglha. You can see the tip of Mt Nuptse, Mt Cholatse, Mt Thamserku and several other magnificent peaks. Stay overnight at Dulgha

Day 9 Duglha to Lobuche (4940 M)
After breakfast you climb up the steep moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. At the top of the ridge of Chupki Lhara, you will find an array of stones with prayer flags used as memorials to Scott Fischer (American mountaineer) and 10 times Everest submitter Babu Chiri Sherpa (a Nepali mountain guide) who perished on a mission to climb Everest. As the trail drops to the Khumbu Glacier moraine, you find ourselves facing several great peaks. You are now in the surrounding of Everest but the great mountain still remains elusive. Stay overnight at Lobuche. 

Day 10 Lobuche to Gorakshep (5180m)
After breakfast you continue your journey through Khumbu Glacier to Thangma Riju from where 360 degree views of mountains can be observed. Climbing steeply up to the top through the torrent of Changri Glacier, you catch your first glimpse of Kala Patthar, a grey-green knoll beneath the Mt. Pumori and you will be at Gorakshep finding snow-capped mountains bright all around us including Mt. Everest. Stay overnight at Gorakshep.

Day 11: Gorakshep to Everest Base Camp (5400m) and return Gorakshep (5180m)
After a brief breakfast you take the trail to Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorakshep Lake. Finally you are at your destination. Mountaineer's tents stand out in bright colors against the monotony of gray surroundings. Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori are the mountains you can view from the base camp. 

Day 12: Gorakshep to Duglha
After breakfast same way back to Duglha. Stay overnight at Duglha.

Day 13: Duglha to Chukung (4730 M)
After brekfast you enter the Imja Khola valley at the beautiful village of Dingboche and further walk about three more hours of trek finally bring us to Chukung which is the last settlement of the valley. You will encounter nomadic huts at the foot of the Imja glaciers. Chukung is the point of departure of Island Peak base camp which also offers great views of Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. Stay overnight at Chukung.

Day 14: Chukung to Island peak Base camp to high Camp (5600 M)
After breakfast you follow your trails for 3 hours and you reach to Island peak Base camp and you will be given training on how to use climbing gears like axe, climbing boots and crampons, ascender, use row to go up and climb down etc. It is not mandatory but it will certainly boost up your confidence. Then you climb this peak. At first the trail is sandy, then turns to grass and later steep and narrow hillside. After several hundreds of meter climb. Stay overnight at Island Peak High Camp. 

Day 15: Island peak High Camp to Summit (6189 M) to Chukung
After breakfast you start climbing this peak. It is not so difficult but should be careful on rocks. Your guide will help to fix ropes and climb up glaciers and finally we reach at summit. You will feel like you are on top of the world. Enjoy summit top views and stunning mountain vistas of different mountains including Mt. Everest and after capturing some views and moments you head back to Chukung. Stay overnight at Chukung.

Day 16: Chukung to Namche Bazaar
After breakfast you have to walk for very long so we start early. You visit Pangboche Village and it believed to have the oldest Gompa in the Khumbu region. Your trail descend out of the alpine dessert and back into landscapes of pine forests. You pass through village of Tengboche and Visit the Tenboche Monastery. Making a steep descent leads back to the Dudh Kosi river. The final steep climb traverses the hill side into Namche Bazaar. In case our contingency day remains unused and you want take today's trekking in a relaxed manner, you can divide today's long trekking into two days. 

Day 17: Acclimatization Day
Today will be complete rest day at Namche Bazaar. You can explore this area, village, people, its culture or you can enjoy communication and lodging facility at this place. Stay overnight stay at Namche Bazaar

Day 18: Namche – Lukla (2,780m)

After breakfast you now head back from Namche Bazaar to lukla from where you started your real hike. The trail descends steeply downward so you need to walk slowly and under control as our shaky legs continuously battle the rocky terrain. Way down through Sherpa villages noticing impressive faith in Buddhism and culture of prayer stones and prayers flag, we feel completely different views. Upon arrival in Lukla, you stretch those aches and sore body parts and recall the experiences of the last couple of weeks. you experience the culmination of a fantastic trek on a happy note with everyone back safe and sound with smile on faces. Stay overnight at Lukla. 

Day 19 Lukla to Kathmandu (1337m)
This day you fly back to Kathmandu and do some shopping for gifts, memory, collections and some traditional items and they all rests at a single venue, Thamel. There will be a small party upon the successful campaign. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 20: Departure
Today your Island Peak Climbing comes to an end so collects the photographs and gadget. Then our representative will help you to drop to the airport or if you have plenty of time to spend in Nepal, then feel free us to join another trip or adventurous activities like hiking, river rafting, bunjy jumping, paragliding etc.so that you can make your travel to Nepal memorable.
