Sanga `Dawa Festival: Enthusiastically celebrated on the full moon day of the fourth Tibetan Lunar month, Saga Dawa is the most important religious festival of Tibet. During the festival, everyone is seen reciting the prayers and playing the holy beads. The entire Tibet is deeply immersed in the festive and spiritual atmosphere. According to the Buddhist literary sources, Saga Dawa festival is celebrated to highlight the day when Sakyamuni (Buddha) attained the enlightenment.
The most important part of the festival is replacing the 'Tarboche Flagpole', the famous huge pole that lies on the way of Kailash round. Every year, the flagpole is brought down and a new pole is erected in the place. The people replacing event is watched by all the locals and foreigners alike with wonder and awe. People all around the Tibet flock to the place to attend the Saga Dawa festival and to attach their small prayer flags to the pole.
15 May 2016 - Day 1: Kathmandu arrival (1360 M)
You will be warmly greeted by Well Nepal at your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu. Our representative will be waiting just in front of arrival door at TIA and then you will be picked and escorted to hotel. Enjoy Overnight at hotel.
16 May 2016 - Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing (1360 M)
This is your Kathmandu sightseeing day and preparation day too. You will visit famous Pashupatinath Temple (Lord Shiva’s) Temple, Swayambunath Stupa, Bhaktapur Durbar square and other beautiful places of Kathmandu. If you need anything before heading out then you have to shop on this day. Here short briefing about trip is given and pre tour discussion is done with tour leader and members. Feel free to ask any questions regarding your tour.
17 May 2016 - Day 3: Kathmandu to Neyalam (3750M)
Today your Tibet overland journey starts from Kathmandu. You will have early morning breakfast and depart around 6 AM to china border via friendship highway. 6 hours of drive takes us to Kodari which is Nepal China Border and after immigration procedures we again further drive for half an hour takes us to Zhangmu where we’ll take good lunch. After lunch we further continue trailing via Bhotekoshi River at deep valley and enjoying waterfalls. Today we will have covered about 150 Km of distance but for now we rest at Neyalam. Overnight at guesthouse.
18 May 2016- Day 4: Acclimatization day at Neyalam
Today will be your rest day at Neyalam which we call Acclimatization day. Rather sitting idle we highly recommend you to get your feet moving for some time so we explore this Neyalam Village and visit its monastery. Stay Overnight at Guest House.
19 May 2016 - Day 5: Neyalam to Saga (4600 M)
After breakfast we drive through Lalunga La pass (5050 M) and Peku Tso Lake also known as salt Lake. After 5 hours of drive we arrive at Saga which is a city with every trekking facility available. Vistas of Gaurishanker, Shishapangma, and LangtangHimal can be seen along the way. We will explore this place and stay in a hotel overnight.
20 May 2016 - Day 6: Saga to Lake Manasarovar Lake (4530 M)
We will have breakfast and depart from here and make our way through Bhramha Putra River to Dongba which is a one hour drive from Saga. After a short visit of this place we continue trekking. Further drive for 5 hours takes us to Lake Manasarovar which we will visit and camp along nearby.
21 May 2016 - Day 7: Atend the Saga Dawa festival & Drive to Darchen (4515 M)
Morning breakfast tthen drive to Tarboche to attend the Sanga Dawa festival, take time & observe the festival afternoon drive to Darchen Overnight at Lodge & dinner
22 May 2016 - Day 8: Darchen to Dirapuk Gompa (4910 M)
Today is our first day of Kailash Parikrama. We explore this lake and worship activities are also conducted early in the morning. After breakfast we trek to ChukGompa (4625 M) on foot. This day feels like god had opened heavens for us and let us glances inside the world of God and Goddesses. We walk through the Valley enjoying Ganga River on our left flowing from Mount Kailash. We take lunch at ChukGompa then again continue our trek and rest overnight at DirapukGompa.
23 May 2016 - Day 9: Trek from DirapukGompa to ZutulpukGompa (4795 M) via Dolma La pass (5490 M)
Today will be a bit tough day for you as you have to walk for 6 hours. After breakfast, we cross a rocky expanse dotted with stone cairns draped with the clothes left as offerings by pilgrims, we encounter one of the holiest lake of this tour i.e. Gaurikunda and further walk takes us to Dolma-La pass (5490 M). We give rest to our tired legs at top of this Pass and enjoy lunch with vistas around. Then, we head Zutulpuk Monastery and camp/Lodge there.
24 May 2016 - Day 10: End of Parikrama: - ZutulpukGompa to Lake Manasarovar then drive to Saga (4600 M)
Today is our last day of ManasarovarParikrama as we head to Saga. After breakfast we shortly visit this Gompa, we’ll understand its history, arts, crafts and spiritual importance. It is the site of the cave of miracles where Milarepa meditated. Then we continue our trek to Lake Manasarovar. You will feel like you are blessed by gods and all you sins are washed away. It is really a spiritual blessing of Lord Shiva. Take lunch at our Manasarovar camp and drive back to Saga. Stay at Overnight at lodge
25 May 2016 - Day 11: Saga to Neyalam (3750M)
After breakfast we head toward Neyalam crossing Lalunga La pass (5050 M) and vistas of Peku Tso Lake. Rest overnight at Neyalam in Guest House.
26 May - Day 12: Neyalam to Zhangmu to Kathmandu (1360 m)
Today will be our final day of tour as we move along Lalung La pass (5050 M) and further drive takes us to Zhangmu. After immigration procedure, customs clearance at Nepal/China Border at Kodari, then we drive all the way back to Kathmandu. Enjoy several stops and villages. Enjoy farewell dinner tonight with your team members and share each other’s unforgettable moments of trip. Stay Overnight at Hotel
27 May 2016 – Day 13 : Departure
